Riga National zoological garden is the oldest zoo in the Baltic States, which boasts about 400 animal species and about 3,000 animals. Its overall strategic objective is to maintain the only national zoo, to educate the public about the fauna of Latvia and the world and its protection, to promote healthy lifestyle and tourism with the offer of quality recreation, to carry out research and to contribute to the conservation of rare and disappearing species, while ensuring a high level of welfare for zoo animals.

Rīga ZOO is a great place to enjoy walks in the picturesque Mežaparks, while observing the all sorts of animals - from the stately giraffes and brave lions to active ants and coloured fish.

You'll be able to find something new and unseen at the Rīga ZOO every time of the year. Different animals can be seen both outside and in indoors – in a Tropical house, Terrarium, Aquarium and elsewhere.

To have a pleasant visit at Riga ZOO, please observe the internal rules of procedure!

1. It is forbidden for visitors to ride a bicycle, scooter, skateboard, roller skates, dip dap bicycle and other vehicles in the territory of Riga ZOO. These vehicles shall be parked at special unguarded stands near the central entrance of Riga ZOO;
The territory of Riga ZOO has a hilly terrain, so let's not endanger ourselves and others!

2. It is forbidden to visit Riga ZOO together with pets!
Pets (cats, dogs and others) in the territory endanger health and peace of animals living at Riga ZOO!

3. It is forbidden to enter the territory with balloons, drones and other flying objects and devices!

4. It is forbidden to feed animals!
The nutrition of animals at Riga ZOO is developed and balanced by specialists, and any deviation from norms can lead to severe consequences for an animal.

5. It is forbidden to touch and disturb animals!
Protect yourselves by not placing fingers and eyes at or behind the fence and enclosures, not knocking at the exhibition displays or otherwise disturbing animals!

6. It is forbidden to make noise!
Be quiet and polite, respecting animals, other visitors and employees of Riga ZOO!

7. It is forbidden to climb on and over barriers, enclosures!
The territory of the animal starts behind the barrier! Let's protect ourselves and respect animals, observing the set borders!

8. Smoking is forbidden (except the places indicated specifically for this purpose)!
Smoking is harmful both for people, and animals. Please, respect the right of our visitors and animals to breathe clean air!

9. It is forbidden to enter and stay in the territory under influence of alcoholic and other intoxicating substances!

10. It is forbidden to bring in the territory weapons, firearms, sharp objects, which can endanger safety of yourselves, other persons and animals.

11. It is forbidden to damage greenery, equipment and buildings of Riga ZOO. It is strictly forbidden to take away from the territory or relocate any equipment.

12. It is forbidden to stay in the territory of Riga ZOO after the opening hours.
Please follow the voice notifications stating that the opening hours of zoo are coming to an end and it is required to leave the territory!

13. Photo and video recording takes place in the territory of Riga ZOO. The obtained materials may be used for publicity and violation detection purposes.
Be prudent, do not violate the rules, we see everything!

14. It is forbidden to use devices with open or covered flame, including grills, except instances when it is coordinated with the administration of Riga ZOO.

15. Visitors of Riga ZOO undertake to follow and observe instructions of employees of Riga ZOO in emergency situations, and may be expelled from Riga ZOO, if the rules or instructions are not observed.

16. Visitors of Riga ZOO undertake to preserve the entry ticket until the end of visit and present it to an employee of Riga ZOO Internal Security Service upon request.
