On May 6th the industrial music pioneers Nine Inch Nails will perform a spectacular show at the Arēna Rīga as part of their 2014 tour.
Nine Inch Nails (NIN) will visit Latvia with one of the most impressive live shows on the planet, set in a hyper-modern technocratic style. The band, created by Trent Reznor (the only official member), just released their first album in five years, the critically-acclaimed Hesitation Marks, which Spin called “the most important artistic statement from Reznor since the late 90s” and Rolling Stone hailed “one of his best” in a four-star lead review. The video for the albums lead single Came Back Hounted was directed by the legendary David Lynch; during their previous collaboration, Reznor produced the soundtrack for his 1997 movie Lost Highway.
The band debuted in 1989 with its first single Down In It racking up an impressive series of hits over the course of 20 years, from Head Like a Hole, Closer and Hurt (later recorded to much acclaim by Johnny Cash) to The Hand That Feeds, Only and Survivalism NIN’s albums – which include the Platinum-certified Pretty Hate Machine (1989), Broken (1992), The Downward Spiral (1994) and With Teeth (2005) – have revolutionized detailed digital production. Along the way NIN were awarded Grammys for Wish and Happiness in Slavery and sold over 30 million albums worldwide.
Reznor’s vision of the electronic ‘noise’ and ‘drone’ sounds in music have directly influenced Marilyn Manson’s unique style, as well as help shape Filter’s music, whose frontman Richard Patrick was once a touring guitarist for NIN. Building on their long history of soundtrack work, NIN's Trent Reznor, with partner Atticus Ross, became an Oscar-winning composer, with credits including the films The Social Network and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
