A. Averchenko
THE MEMORY BOOK
Seven ways of seduction
Adapted and directed by Georgy Tshvirava
Set by Emil Kapelyush
Costumes by Jana Glushanok
Almost 100 years ago, Arkady Averchenko read his stories from the stage of the Russian Theater in Riga, directed his own plays and performed as an actor in them. "The memory Book" is the first take at his texts since 1923.
"The degree of Arkady Averchenko’s talent is comparable to the early Chekhov’s", says Georgy Tshvirava, the Head Staging Director of the Omsk State Academic Drama Theatre. And, like Chekhov, Averchenko keenly and humorously writes about relationship between men and women. The comic situations easily goes with the seriousness of the eternal questions, but the lightness and elegance of the form excludes even the slightest hint at edification.
