YEARS & YEARS AND OTHERS ADDED TO POSITIVUS FESTIVAL PROGRAM

One of the top UK electronic music artists Years & Years are added to the Positivus Festival line-up. Additionally such raising music stars as Youngr, Jeremy Loops and Marlon Williams will also perform at the festival.

LATVIA WELCOMES ARCADE FIRE

Canadian super-band Arcade Fire will deliver their long-awaited Baltic show at Latvia’s Mežaparks Green Theatre. Having received a Grammy nomination for every album re-leased so far, the band can also boast a Grammy Award for Best album and three album No.1’s in the U.S. to be amongst some of their greatest commercial achievements. Arcade Fire will deliver their sole Baltic performance as part of their newest album Everything Now tour, which was kicked-off by an extensive advertising campaign on the North American continent at the end of last year. The Canadians artists will perform numerous shows across Europe, some of which have already been sold out. General ticket sale starts from Wednesday, April 4th, from 10 AM in all Biļešu Serviss box offices and online. FBI and Positivus members have an exclusive chance to buy priority tickets, starting from Tuesday, April 3.

BRITISH RAPPER SCARLXRD TO PERFORM IN RIGA

SCARLXRD is the moniker of British rapper, YouTuber and musician Marius Listhrop (or Maz), widely known for his smash hit “Heart Attack”. Having released prolifically since starting the project, the 23 year old SCARLXRD (pronounced as scarlord) has already rec-orded and released over 5 albums. With 104 thousand followers and more than a million listens on SoundCloud, as well as 800 thousand followers and several million music video views on YouTube, his creativity just keeps flowing and so do his fans. The energetic rap-per will delight Baltic audiences with a raw and untamed show in Riga on June 4, at “Mu-sic House Daile” concert hall. Tickets are available in all “Biļešu Serviss” box offices starting today. First ticket price - starting from € 29.

HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD

Hollywood Undead'sband members consist of five MC's and one DJ. All other musicians (guitar, drums, percussion, bass) are usually invited. Looking around the band members, you will never guess what kind of music the band plays: their stage image is all about masks, tattoos and closed faces. But for now they started to take off the masks after the first few songs during live shows.

THE EXPRESSIVE GIPSY PUNK-ROCK UNION GOGOL BORDELLO RETURNS TO RIGA

Extravagant stage image, hooligans-like behaviour and music filled with energy that exceeds boundaries of genres and despises society’s norms - the American gypsy punk-rock union Gogol Bordello challenges and fires up its audience for almost twenty years already. Each year the band plays around two hundred shows and most of them are sold out, just like the previous concert in Riga. On May 20, 2018, Gogol Bordello will return to the Palladium concert hall, offering hot dances, waves of wine and a full list of songs from their newest album “Seekers and Finders”.

Sunset Festival announces the first 2 events in Sigulda

Sunset Festival announces the summer season of 2018 with the release of British band "Clean Bandit" on July 5th and the ambitious Radio SWH's 25th anniversary flash-back event on July 14th. Tickets for both events will be available on the "Ticket Service" network starting Monday, December 18th. Subsequent concert days and artists will be announced gradually.

NORWEGIAN MEGA BAND A-HA WILL PERFORM AT SIGULDA OPENAIR STAGE THIS SUMMER

Thirty-five years on the stage - the Norwegian band A-ha has achieved a lot during this time, including becoming the most exportable mega band of Norway, playing thousands of shows around the world, including Latvia, as well as saying goodbye forever to its concert guests. However, one can’t simply say "stop" to true love for music. A-ha acoustic album “Summer Solstice” recently was released as a part of MTV Unplugged series and next year the musicians will have a fresh beginning with the world tour where acoustic performances will be combined with concert series Electric Summer. The Norwegian band will perform at Sigulda Open Air Stage on July 17 and listeners will have a chance to enjoy the great hits that have lived through decades as well as brand new compositions which still carry the unique and creative A-ha signature sound.

DALAI LAMA in RIGA ‒ Teachings on Wisdom and Compassion

His Holiness the Dalai Lama will give teachings primarily in Tibetan. The teachings will be translated into Latvian, Russian and English. The translations will be broadcast in the FM range.
 
You may use your mobile phone with built in FM radio or a portable FM radio set to listen to the translation. Please make sure your phone is fully charged, and you have enough spare batteries for your radio set. Please bring the corresponding earphones.


May 5‒6 at Kipsala International Exhibition Center

His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama will give his first ever teachings in the Baltic States on wisdom and compassion– the two main aspects of the Buddhist spiritual path.
 
«Just like a bird relying on its two wings is flying freely across an open sky, a practitioner is ascending the spiritual path relying on wisdom and compassion», ‒ often says His Holiness quoting great Buddhist thinkers of the past.
 
The spiritual leader will teach the fundamentals of Buddhist philosophy based on two classical texts – the Heart Sutra and 37 Practices of Bodhisattvas by Gyalsey Thogmey Zangpo. The teachings will be given at the numerous requests of Buddhists from the Baltic States and Russia.
 
Everyone is welcome to participate in this event with His Holiness the Dalai Lamа, both Buddhists and those who are simply interested in the Buddhist philosophy that harmoniously combines profound wisdom and limitless compassion.

The organizers offer free admission to the teachings of H.H. the Dalai Lama to monks and nuns. Please fill up the form at http://lv.dalailama.ru/. Your applications should be sent before April 15.
 
Children

The organizers kindly ask you not to bring your children under the age of six into the hall. If your children attend the sessions, you need to purchase an admission ticket for them. The children should be able to sit quietly for a two hour talk as well as show an interest in being there.

Security
To ensure a harmonious sequence of events and a safe one for all participants, please adhere to the following guidelines:
 
The teachings will begin at 9.30 am, both on May 4 and on May 5. The doors of the Kipsala International Exhibition Center will open at 7.30 am. Please consider arriving at least one hour before the event to allow you to go through the security checks before entry. Please promptly take your seat since H.H. the Dalai Lama usually starts on time and sometimes arrives well in advance.
 
For safety reasons you are requested not to carry large bags, strollers and other bulky items into the venue. Weapons, knives, tools, aerosols, paint, marking pens, flags, scissors and sharp objects are not permitted.
 
Seats are numbered and volunteers will assist you in finding them.
Please switch off your mobiles in the hall (or switch to flight mode if you use the FM radio function of your mobile for the translation).
 
Photos can only be taken from your seat; please avoid using flash and be considerate of those seated next to you by taking only a few photos.
 
Pets are not allowed except for guide dogs for the blind
