Premiere in Riga! The ARTOS Byzantine Choir of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Vilnius will bring the two most influential vocal traditions in history—the Byzantine and the Gregorian—to the St. John’s Church.
In the heart of Riga, liturgical hymns that for centuries filled the great basilicas of Constantinople and the monasteries of Rome will resonate on the 26th of July. In this program, ARTOS explores famous and deeply spiritual chorals that represent the peak of medieval musical artistry, reviving a language that has transcended time and borders for over a millennium.
