British duo Sleaford Mods announce a concert in Vilnius

British duo Sleaford Mods known for their anger and irony will present their new album about the end of the world in Vilnius this autumn.

Sleaford Mods will perform at Kablys on 30 October. Their eye-catching neon autumn tour poster features just 12 cities. Vilnius show will be their only performance in the Baltics.

Sleaford Mods are one of the sharpest and most energetic acts in British music. They are the restless voice of working-class Britain, unafraid to speak the truth. These post-punk veterans provoke, challenge and expose uncomfortable realities.

Their anger is genuine. Over more than fifteen years, Sleaford Mods have built something that no tough image or clever marketing strategy could create. Today, they are one of the most distinctive acts of the past decade.

“Anger and humour are their key strengths. Live, Sleaford Mods are relentlessly powerful,” writes The Guardian.

There’s really no need to worry. It’s only the end of the world.

This apocalypse does not arrive with a huge explosion, cinematic special effects or Mad Max-style motorbikes racing through the desert. Sleaford Mods offer a far more realistic and more frightening scenario: everything simply gets worse and slowly falls apart. It feels so familiar that it is genuinely terrifying. Sleaford Mods predict that humanity will be destroyed not by a sudden catastrophe but by social indifference and self-serving corruption.

The latest Sleaford Mods release is profound and deeply personal. “Jason once again confronts the state of the world, as confused and furious as ever. He is joined by an unexpected group of collaborators, including Gwendoline Christie, Aldous Harding, Big Special, Sue Tompkins and Liam Bailey,” writes The Guardian.

“Sleaford Mods are the Sex Pistols of our time. With colourful noise, sharp wisdom and sprechgesang, they remind us not to give up without a fight,” adds NME.

“This time, I drew inspiration from bands such as “The Specials” and “The Selecter”, as well as from my own tears. I’ve been crying more often lately and that has influenced my work. More importantly, it has brought greater calm to my personal relationships,” says Jason, reflecting on how psychotherapy has affected his lyrics and personal life.

“People say society has become numb to the horrors we see in the news. I feel something similar about my lyrics. I'm no longer sure whether there is more or less anger in them. I express myself more subtly now and no longer name names. I don’t want to give those people even five minutes of attention,” Jason explains.

Collapse has never sounded so alive. The duo have created another powerful album that will last until the end of the world whenever that may be.

Once again, expect plenty of truth blasting through the speakers.

€1 from every ticket sold for their Vilnius concert will go to War Child UK. The rap-punk duo have joined Plus1, an initiative that brings together socially conscious artists, fans and volunteers.
