British Electronic Soul Artist Jamie Woon announces a concert in Vilnius

British electronic soul artist Jamie Woon will present his new album “3, 10, Why, When” in Vilnius this autumn.

After a long creative break, Jamie Woon is back. On 10 September, he will perform with a live band at Kablys. Widely regarded as a pioneer of London soul, Woon remains one of the most distinctive artists of his generation.

“I’ve released a new album with a strange title. It’s my most vulnerable record yet. Time to go on tour! I’ve missed it so much,” Woon announced.

Woon’s debut album “Mirrorwriting” received widespread critical acclaim, while his second album “Making Time” was nominated for the Mercury Prize. These records established him as one of the most distinctive British musicians of his generation.

Then he disappeared from the spotlight. While fans waited for new music, Woon continued working behind the scenes and collaborated with Burial, Disclosure, Elmiene and other artists.

“For years, I felt stuck and blocked. It was all because of those silly words. I kept asking myself: ‘What is worth saying? What should I express and write?’ I don’t know how that idea took hold of me, but it caused a lot of anxiety and later shame. Making music is the best job in the world. That probably offers a clue as to why I was stuck for so long. Writing songs became difficult. But at some point, with love and support, new music simply appeared, much to my surprise. Now I have a collection of deeply personal songs about vulnerability,” Woon writes on Substack.

News of his return delighted thousands of fans around the world. “I’ve waited ten years for this. Thank you for coming back. I was nervous because I didn’t know what I would hear after so long. I was afraid it might not be what I had been waiting for but the new album is wonderful,” says a fan Kate.

Album “3, 10, Why, When”

Jamie Woon’s new album “3, 10, Why, When” was released unexpectedly. After he began working with a producer Martin Terefe whose style might seem unusual for Woon, studio sessions evolved into a full-length record. “He somehow tricked me into making an album,” Woon admits with a smile.

The album brings together elements of R&B, electronic music and pop. Woon’s vocal ability remains truly remarkable. 

“No one makes music for late-night journeys quite like Jamie Woon,” writes Clash.

The album was released through Woon’s own label “Also Can”. It marks a confident step forward and shows how creative independence can help new ideas grow. “I don’t really know how to explain this music. I can hardly believe it exists at all,” Jamie admits.
