For the very first time LP will perform in Latvia this December

On December 7th one of the most extraordinary contemporary indie and pop-rock artists Laura Pergolizzi, better known as LP, will perform in Arena Riga.

Her self-made superhit Lost On You, which has almost 150 million views on YouTube, brought the singer a worldwide fame, but she has a number of other wonderful pieces, which can be taken from 4 full-length albums. Just to name few ones, like Tokyo Sunrise, Into The Wild, Tightrope, Muddy Waters, Someday, Other People, Strange, Don’t Let Me Down, Night Like This and many more.
This is the very first time when this talented singer will perform in Latvia.

Born in Long Island, New York, in Italian-American family, LP showed her talent early in childhood, but as she was too shy about her powerful voice, so she sang over a noise of a  vacuum cleaner. She gradually learned to play guitar, ukulele and harmonica.

But the road to fame was long enough and complicated. Despite the intense and frequent live performances first two LP albums – “Heart-Shaped Scar” (2001) and “Suburban Sprawl & Alcohol” (2004) – was not successful and didn’t gain wide attention. Laura recalls that she and her band had around 250 live shows per year in that time and they all traveled in old minivan.
In SXSW music conference of 2006 there sparked a bidding war amongst major music labels for a chance to release LP’s new album. A contract was signed, but due to artistic differences LP left it. Instead she continued to work with independent record companies.

Along with her career LP becomes a highly demanded songwriter for other stars, like Cher, Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, Heidi Montag, Backstreet Boys etc.

The latest LP record “Lost On You” was released last year and its title track swiftly reached number one in 8 countries, among which there are France, Poland, Czech Republic, Greece etc. The hit achieved even Platinum status in Italy.
Song is about the pained realization that a relationship is going nowhere and one has devoted years of own life to a doomed romance. “I wanted a deep song about love that was more adult. You know when you have your first adult relationship when the pain and your shortcomings and deepest fears come out. That’s the kind of song I wanted to write,” tells LP herself.
