Merzbow & Balázs Pándi to play at Skaņu Mežs 2017

In 2017, Skaņu Mežs will celebrate its 15th anniversary. The festival will take place at the music house “Daile” on October 13th and 14th with an opening event on October 6 at the art museum Riga Bourse. The first announced act of this festival edition is the duo of Merzbow, the Japanese noise musician, held as one of the most important artists in the field, and Balázs Pándi, a drummer active in experimental metal, noise and free jazz. They will play on October 14.

Folk singer Stu Larsen will perform in Riga coming fall

On September 28th an Australian singer, songwriter and folk musician Stu Larsen will perform at Latvian 1st Rock Cafe (Riga, Marstalu 2/4). It will be his first time in Latvia and this concert is to support his brand new album Resolute (to be released on July 21st). The previous, his debut album, is called Vagabond and was released in 2014. A relevant role in its making, record and producing took his friend, a romantic British singer songwriter Passenger, also known as Michael Rosenberg. It’s worth mentioning that Passenger show in Riga last fall was completely sold out.

Ukrainian Singer Ani Lorak visits Latvia with the Show Karolina

On November 6, 2014, Ukrainian singer Ani Lorak (her real name is Karolina Kujeka) in the concert hall Palladium will delight the Latvian audience with her Show Karolina celebrating 20 years on the stage as a musician.
All the performances of the Ani Lorak show dedicated to her 20th anniversary as a musician will be told like a united story and each song, each performance will be like a small separate story about a small girl from a small town who had nothing except a firm resolution to become a singer, girl who despite of all obstacles accomplished her long awaited dream. She loved, she lost, and she had disappointments. Yet, in her heart she maintained trust to the good, trust to true love – she managed to overcome difficulties and become a world-renowned singer Ani Lorak. So now she can say with certainty to the young generation: „You see, I did it, so can you! Believe in yourself, believe in your power and never ever give up. You and only you – are the director of your life”. Musical performance was based on the life history of the singer, her childhood experiences and musical achievements that she managed to accomplish during 20 years.
