The NIRVANA Experience and CHAD CHANNING

This year the world celebrates the 30th anniversary of the NIRVANA band! On January 1, 1989, the band "Nirvana" signed its first recording agreement  with the Seattle recording label Sub Pop Records, and shortly thereafter recorded the album "Bleach." The contract was signed for 12 months with the possibility to extend it for two more years. Kurt Cobain, Chad Channing, Krist Novoselic and Jason Everman were present while the contract was signed.

THE EXPRESSIVE GIPSY PUNK-ROCK UNION GOGOL BORDELLO RETURNS TO RIGA

Extravagant stage image, hooligans-like behaviour and music filled with energy that exceeds boundaries of genres and despises society’s norms - the American gypsy punk-rock union Gogol Bordello challenges and fires up its audience for almost twenty years already. Each year the band plays around two hundred shows and most of them are sold out, just like the previous concert in Riga. On May 20, 2018, Gogol Bordello will return to the Palladium concert hall, offering hot dances, waves of wine and a full list of songs from their newest album “Seekers and Finders”.

Sunset Festival announces the first 2 events in Sigulda

Sunset Festival announces the summer season of 2018 with the release of British band "Clean Bandit" on July 5th and the ambitious Radio SWH's 25th anniversary flash-back event on July 14th. Tickets for both events will be available on the "Ticket Service" network starting Monday, December 18th. Subsequent concert days and artists will be announced gradually.

FAMOUS COMPONIST AND PIANIST LUDOVICO EINAUDI WILL PERFORM AT ARENA RIGA AMPHITHEATRE

The name of today's classical music composer and pianist Ludovico Einaudi is praised worldwide - his deeply touching and emotional compositions have enriched countless cinematic masterpieces. Einaudi’s ability to fuse traditional ideas of music genres with minimalism and contemporary pop has earned him a reputation of being a trully rare talent in the world of contemporary classical music. Next year Einaudi is going on a European tour and one of the stops will be Arena Riga amphitheater, where the great musician will perform on April 9. General sale of the tickets at Biļešu Serviss will start on November 30 and the prices will be starting from 49 €.

NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS – THE FIRST HEADLINER OF POSITIVUS’18

Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds have been announced as the first headliners of the Positivus Festival 2018. The legendary songwriter, author and actor will perform together with his most acclaimed musical companions on the closing festival day on Sunday, July 22. One-day and two-day tickets go on sale today.

NORWEGIAN MEGA BAND A-HA WILL PERFORM AT SIGULDA OPENAIR STAGE THIS SUMMER

Thirty-five years on the stage - the Norwegian band A-ha has achieved a lot during this time, including becoming the most exportable mega band of Norway, playing thousands of shows around the world, including Latvia, as well as saying goodbye forever to its concert guests. British musician Ghostpoet will perform at 'Music House Daile' on February 16

The International World Jazz Festival takes place in July in Riga

One of this summer’s most exciting music events - the International World Jazz Festival will take place from 30-31 July 2014 in "Arena Riga" that will draw the attention of many admirers of jazz.  Many world famous and international prize winning jazz stars from Russia, USA, Australia, the Netherlands, etc. will visit Latvia in connection with this festival.
 
During these two festival days, Riga will witness real jazz. Cassandra Wilson, the well-known American jazz diva and the winner of two Grammy Awards, will perform on "Arena Riga" stage. She is one of the brightest jazz singers of the last decade, whose talent is enriched with feminine grace and refined vocals.
 
The concert viewers will also have the opportunity to enjoy the jazz musician and trumpet player Till Brönner with his extraordinary and smoky musical performance as well as the American jazz star trio Kate Davis and Co, who have hit the American radio top charts with their captivating jazz compositions.
 
The concert on 30 July 2014 will close with the rising Russian jazz star Oleg Akkuratov, who only at the age of 24 has already announced himself on the door steps of the great jazz. This artist is ready to challenge every jazz star, and thus his performances are filled with vitality, maximalism and youthful character.
 
The next day of the World Jazz Festival on 31 July 2014 will offer five exciting jazz artists. Riga will welcome jazz saxophone star Igor Butman, in whose hands the tenor saxophone acquires a lyrical, melodic, melancholic and truly deep tone. He has performed in New York's most prestige jazz club "Blue Note" and performed together with the best world jazz artists.
 
During the evening, the stage will also welcome the American pianist Dave Grusin and the young Australian singer Fantine (born in Russia), whose extensive knowledge of foreign languages gives a very special sound and charisma to her created music. Furthermore, the successful Canadian singer Gino Vannelli will also entertain our viewers with his jazz music that has been created on two main values - passion and openness.
 
The evening of 31 July 2014 will end with the virtuoso jazz artist Lee Ritenaur, who will touch every viewer's soul with his refined technique. From blues to jazz and from jazz to the basics of rock. During this evening together with all these extraordinary artists, there will be only you and jazz.

In connection with this Festival in Dome Square both on July 30 and 31 2014, you will be able to attend open-air concerts with jazz music representatives from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Russia and USA free of charge. The main artists of the Festival will perform in "Arena Riga". You will also be able to visit jazz festival night session at concert hall "Studio 69".
