Ever since their formation in 2006, The Horrors have continuously rebelled against the music industry’s standards. They are releasing their albums in partnership with one of UK’s biggest record companies XL Recordings. Despite being a label that releases an average of six albums per year, XL Recordings work with some of the biggest and most influential names in music business - Jack White, Adele, The Prodigy, Beck, Radiohead, The White Stripes, Dizzee Rascal, M.I.A., Vampire Weekend and others. Their fourth record - the new album Luminous, released on May 5th, has already peaked at number six in the UK’s best-selling album chart and is being dubbed the best new record of the year. NME has named the album “a terrific comeback which cements The Horror’s status as one of contemporary British music’s national treasures” with The Guardian describing their sound as “light years ahead of the current guitar-band pack.” This also won’t be the only time that The Horrors will play in Latvia this summer – slightly more than three weeks after opening for Kings of Leon, the band will return to perform on the main stage of Positivus Festival.
As previously announced, one of the most popular US rock bands Kings of Leon will perform at the Mežaparks Open-air Stadium in Riga on June 25th. The release of Only by the Night in 2008 saw Kings of Leon become true global superstars, gaining immense world-wide popularity with the album’s hit singles, such as Use Somebody and Sex On Fire. They are currently touring in support of their latest album Mechanical Bull (2013).
Tickets are available in all “Biļešu Serviss” box offices, as well as online. General admission – EUR 55. No designated fan sector available.
The concert is organised by Positivus Music and FBI.
