Presentation of new album of Okean Elzy in 4 weeks in Palladium Riga!

Last year Ukrainian rock-legends recorded new album “The Earth” and went to great stadia tour to cities of the Ukraine, Russia and Belarus to offer new programme. Now, on March 29, Okean Elzy will perform in concert hall “Palladium Riga”.

Everything that could be said about Okean Elzy may be considered as exclusive: exclusive emotions, exclusive energy, and exclusive openness. “If Vakarchuk writes a ballade, then it will make us to cry tears, if he writes a rock hymn, then it will make us to tear our shirts and jump up to the sky”, Oleg Martishin, musical journalist, wrote. This group has been called the main Ukrainian energy source. Hits sung by them will be enough for nearest century, but Okean Elzy would not have been Slavic Muse, Blur and Pulp altogether, if they hadn’t recorded new disc once in two years. “The Earth” became the eighth studio album and actually – the national-scale event in the Ukraine.

The album contains twelve songs, including single “Wall”, which is known to public within by-project “Brussels” of Svjatoslav Vakarchuk. Some songs root into listener’s consciousness immediately, and some songs need time to put down. Cover of the album “The Earth” is strewn with grains. Svjatoslav Vakarchuk says: “There are twelve different kinds of grains, inter alia, hemp. Each grain corresponds to particular song, as the earth is valuable, mainly, because it gives a new life”. In music from the album “The Earth”, critics find everything: ethno, “particular gentleness of “Okean”, punk rock, Middle East melodies, “guaranteed lump in the throat”, and, finally – two Mojito cocktails”.

Prior to concert of 29 March, the group Okean Elzy has tried new hits in stadia and Sports Palaces in 27 Ukrainian cities, however, tickets for each concert were sold out fast. In October, the second part of the big tour will begin. S.Vakarchuk says: “My attitude towards everything I do in my life is as if I lived the last day of my life. I am used to live like that. Towards songs, concerts – no matter, if those take place in Lvov, Mukachevo, Odessa, Moscow or New York”. Musicians of Okean Elzy work for 100 per cent. It can be felt in new songs as well, as transcriptions of those have preserved spirit of live concert. The group Okean Elzy has recorded all instruments simultaneously, guided by sound director Ken Nilsson, who was granted three GRAMMY awards and who had worked with first records of Coldplay. The album “The Earth” was recorded in Belgium in ICP Studios, which is one of the best European sound record studios.

When recording the new album, composition of the group changed: Petr Cernavsky left the group. Vladimir Opsenica, one of the best Balkan guitarists came instead. Except for this, composition of Okean Elzy has been the same: Milosz Jelich conjures to keyboard instruments, Denis Dudko tears strings of the bass guitar, Denis Glinin is the chief of drums, and front man and singer of the group Svjatoslav Vakarchuk make their fans mad. He as if knows what we should do: in turn, he commands “Shoot”, “Stand up”, “Give a hug”, “Let me go” – and all the crowd, obeying to words, goes crazy, even when Okean Elzy has just appeared on the stage.

In 2013, according to version of the Ukrainian rock web site, the group Okean Elzywas called the best Ukrainian rock group during last 25 years. Every concert played by them becomes real exchange of energy, which lasts for 2 hours. It will be possible to hear songs from the new album “The Earth” alongside with old hits on March, 29, in concert hall “Palladium Riga”. Hurry up to become first to feel drive of the new programme of “Okean Elzy”.
